Chee Chew, Director of Engineering, Google, Inc.
Chee is Engineering Director for Google, overseeing applications and client efforts at the company’s Seattle and Kirkland offices. The Seattle area teams contribute to Chrome, Chrome OS, Gmail, Google Talk, Google Pack and internal tools. Prior to Google, Chee spent 14 years at Microsoft Corporation where he started as a code-crazy engineer on Windows 95, Internet Explorer 3, 4 and 5. He then transitioned to engineering leadership, then took over General Manager responsabilities for Windows Mobile. Chee had the privilege of leading engineering teams from the first Pocket PC release through Windows Mobile 6. In his last project at Microsoft, Chee was General Manager of Games for Windows LIVE within the Xbox organization. Before Microsoft, Chee earned his B.S. degree and Master of Science in computer science from MIT in cooperation with Hewlett-Packard Labs in Palo Alto. Chee was born in Malaysia, but grew up in South Carolina, then Kentucky. He is married with two children aged 12 and six. He enjoys karate, soccer, photography and traveling to new places. He has lived in the Seattle area since 1993.
