Mega-Trends

Wed, 01/16/2002 - 5:00pm

Join us in January for "The Virtual Me," the second in a series of the MIT Enterprise Forum's Megatrends. In this program, Dan Fine, CEO of Bot.Net, will moderate a first-class panel of visionaries, researchers and industry leaders who will explore the exciting opportunities of the next megatrend, the virtual me-electronic extensions of me that can search and learn for me, represent me visually and verbally, and act as an authorized agent to negotiate and contract for me.

If you are a science fiction fan, or even a science projection fan, you will recognize that the expected end point of this trend is the ability to upload me, my entire mind, to become an electronically living entity on the Net. But our program on January 16th is not about science fiction, it is about the trends and opportunities of today, made possible through the convergence and interaction of cutting-edge technology and plentiful bandwidth. New companies have been formed, and existing companies are extending into this space.

Individuals as well as companies and governments have already started to use things such as bots, avatars and other intelligent agents to represent, inform, act for, and commit them-even when they're neither present nor directly controlling that aspect of their "virtual me." Please join us for a fascinating program.
