Hank Skorny, Architect, Real Networks, Inc.

 

Hank is Senior Vice President, Media Cloud Computing and Services, at RealNetworks. He is leading a new effort to place media into the cloud, offering the ability to protect and access it anywhere. This will allow users to organize, explore and socialize with their media like never before. Hank has nearly 25 years of executive marketing, business development, and engineering experience. Previously, Hank has proven a successful entrepreneur, serving as CEO of Thumbspeed Inc. which was acquired by OZ Communications Inc. which was subsequently acquired by Nokia. Prior to Thumbspeed, Hank held senior executive positions at Infospace Mobile and AOL Mobile. Additionally, his career has included general management, senior product management and engineering positions at Adobe Systems, Microsoft and Apple Computer. Hank is the Managing Partner of o8Ventures and Chairman of Zipwhip, Inc., a leader in TCP-IP based text messaging over the web. He also serves on several boards, including TiE – The Indus Entrepreneurs and Enterprise Ireland. He has an active role in philanthropy organizations that focus on education and stimulating entrepreneurship. Hank studied at Drexel University where he was awarded a scholarship for his early novel research in Xenon Fluorides, and by GlaxoSmithKline for his research in computer modeling of reactions involving complex three-dimensional proteins and glycopeptides.
